Come, let's all be Babas and Nyonyas

Victoria and Albert [Devotion]

Okay. I went with Mandy to FGA's practice for their Lai Lau Juak, Baba Nyonya 40 days of purpose thing yesterday. It was pretty interesting, watching their practice sesh. I mean, they sing pretty well. I managed to finish a small sketch of Noelle in my sketch book. I usually take ten million years to finish a drawing. My bad, actually. XD

I sooo need to find a scanner to scan my artwork into the PC...

Anyways... after that, Mandy and I went to Prangin, where I decidedly bought three new CDs. Couldn't help it.

i. Coldplay, X and Y
ii. Kelly Clarkson, Breakaway
iii. Gavin DeGraw, Chariot

*is humming nonstop to Chariot*

Tis' such a lovely song! It has this lovely beat to it, and all that. Whoever wants to hear it, ask me on IM and I'll send it over. *beams*

Anyways, chorus for Breakaway. They caught my attention.

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes til' I touch the sky
I'll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I loved
I'll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway...

Has a nice tune to it. Again, if you want, I can send the song over via IM.

After I got the albums, Mandy and I met up with mom and dad. We all went for dinner in this nice little corner... where I had perhaps the worse tom yam ever in human history. For the unaware, tom yam = deathly curry which is SUPER hot.

Worse in this case, meaning, it tastes good, but my tongue was on fire for the rest of the night. *wince*

Then we went home. All in all, a very nice, family outing. Nothing else that was interesting that happened, other than me getting diaorrhea... again. Something's definitely wrong there. *sigh*

I also found a pretty nifty site on the Romanovs, Anastacia, and her family. Pretty informative. Lots of lovely pictures of the palace. And also, I found out all about Anastacia and her sisters, Maria, Tatiana, and Olga. I seem to have a thing for olden-day royalty. Like Henry the VIII. Him and his six wives. I'm kinda drawn to all this royalty history, I guess.

*smirk*

In other words, I'm just another old romantic who loves all these stories.

My favourite Henry VIII wife was always Katherine Howard, regardless of the fact that she was probably the most promiscious of them all. *snickers*

*sigh*

I'm such a sucker for princesses in pretty gowns and dresses. Hopeless romantic Emmy.

Am pretty bored nowadays. I mean, I'm trying not to be too bored with studying, but it just doesn't work. SPM's drawing nearer, and nearer. Ugh... how I despise it.

Am contemplating buying this book on the one hundred unsolved mysteries of the world. It includes olden day things such as... the mystery of Stonehenge, Lost cities and the like, and many numerous things that I deem interesting. *beams*

Oh, I also got Noelle to level 50. Whoopee...

Signing off.

~Emmy

Breakaway is an awesome CD. I have "I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to Fly" on a pair of jeans that I took and wrote song lyrics all over. :-D

i too have this fascination for olden royalty. and because of a certain historical romance that i've read when i was in high school, i kind of developed a soft spot for olga nicholaevna. i can't stop myself from thinking sometimes that if only the romanovs were allowed by law to pass on the throne to their daughters, and if olga was allowed to become czarina, the russian revolution could have been turned. but that is only a fantasy. XD

lol...

I have a soft spot for Anastacia. But that's because I watched and loved 'Anastacia'. The cartoon with D'mitri. XD

A walk within fantasy realms:

As a child, the second princess of Alvarenthea had run wild and free within the forests surrounding the kingdoms. It was an age of innocence, in which no harm came upon wandering babes. Her parents had learnt, in time, that searching for the young lady Bellaford was of no use, for she would return only in her own time, and, until then, remain hidden.

Had the marquis of Vanyawyn known of her adventurous childhood, perhaps, just perhaps, he would have neglected to continue with his search, fruitless as it had proven to be. Perhaps he would have let his weary mind fall into the realm of slumber and dreams, crucial as it was for him at that point.

Alas, marquis William Dal’Ceyran knew nothing of her childhood, and, to his exasperation, nothing of her current whereabouts.

Many hours had passed since the hunt of the previous day had ended. A new morn had begun. The birds hailed the coming of the new day and the servants arose to the scent of fresh-fallen dew. Life bustled about within the hallways of the Vain’dul palace, in the form of servants, courtiers, guards, and officers.

Come morning, the hunters had abandoned their quarry, for they had numerous things of their own to do. The search for the missing lady would simply have to wait.

William paced the floors of his bedroom, his face pale with worry. The previous night had held for him no rest, and no peace. In his mind and soul tugged thoughts of the missing lady.

His missing lady.

The marquis of Vanyawyn growled, shaking his head as he berated himself angrily. “She is not yours to claim. A thousand times no, William. Do not play the part of the fool.”

For a moment or two, he remained still, his brow creased into a frown, hands clenched and shoulders drawn taut. Within his chest now roared a fire, the flames burning, burning visions of the princess into his very being, into his soul.

Chirrup.

He blinked, turning swiftly towards the window, his hand moving, on impulse, towards his dagger. The visions dissipated, leaving behind naught but a dull, throbbing ache.

The tiny sparrow upon his windowsill cocked its head to the side, a small, sweet twitter bursting forth from within its throat. It gazed, unblinking, at the marquis, its bright hazel eyes twinkling with unspoken interest.

William sighed, shaking his head. “There is no need to look amused. She is not, and will never be mine.” He muttered blatantly at the bird. “But gods… that I must look upon her beauty and subdue my love for her… Ah, how will I ever be able to achieve that?”

The sparrow let out a little chirrup, flapping its wings slightly. Clicking its beak once, it turned its tail to him, rustling its tail feathers cheekily before taking off into the air.
